Role Summary
The Investment Operations Specialist is a subject matter expert responsible for handling the most complex transactions, providing functional leadership, and driving operational excellence. This role plays a key part in client engagement, exception management, mentoring, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for complex trade, corporate action, and exception-related issues.
- Coordinate closely with clients, custodians, fund managers, and proxy vendors to ensure timely elections and entitlements.
- Oversee verification and processing of corporate actions, cash, and securities transactions across systems.
- Review and resolve reconciliation discrepancies, ensuring appropriate accounting adjustments.
- Manage system exceptions and ensure timely resolution of trade breaks.
- Serve as a liaison between onshore partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver operational reports to business units and key clients.
- Identify control gaps, workflow inefficiencies, and risk exposures; lead process improvement initiatives.
- Actively mentor and coach junior analysts and senior analysts through formal and informal training.
- Develop and maintain reference materials, procedures, and workflow documentation.
- Represent the team in service calls, operational reviews, and cross-functional forums.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of securities markets, regulatory developments, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in investment operations or asset servicing.
- Deep understanding of securities processing, corporate actions, reconciliations, and operational risk.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence without formal people management responsibility.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, improvement-driven mindset.
