Job Description

A Patient Services Representative plays a crucial role in healthcare settings, serving as the primary point of contact for patients. Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the calendars efficiently for clinicians.
  • Answer patient inquiries and route calls to the appropriate department or staff member.
  • Verify insurance information and discuss patient coverage details clearly and accurately.
  • Enter patient information into electronic medical records with high attention to detail.
  • Collect payments from patients at the time of service and process transactions accurately.
  • Assist with the patient registration process, ensuring all information is current and complete.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding any delays or changes to their appointments.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations consistently.
  • Support office administrative tasks and assist with other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to assist in triaging patient needs in a timely manner.
  • Manage patient complaints and concerns with professionalism and empathetic care resolution.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
  • Proven experience in a customer service or administrative role preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic health record software systems.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is advantageous.
