Position Title: Trade Compliance Analyst I

Responsibilities:

    • Ensures compliance with applicable U.S. export and import control laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”), and regional and local regulations concerning the movement of goods and services across borders.
    • Review part specification sheets, related product documentation, and the EAR to determine Export Classification Code Numbers (“ECCN”) and local country classifications for items sold. Coordinate harmonized tariff classification and export control classification of materials with Product Management and Engineering.
    • Review and vet international sales orders to ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Review of Customer End Use and End User Certifications (“EUC”), determine the validity of EUC by assessing the identified components for the intended use which is described by customers when procuring certain products.
    • Determine and assign local export/import country and U.S. license requirements to orders placed on hold within trade compliance software for trade control reasons. When necessary, escalate orders to department leader for guidance.
    • Reviews of current government restricted / denied parties list matches, to confirm decision for partner release or block within business software system (SAP GTS).
    • When necessary, conduct and document further due diligence for partners and/or transactions to resolve potential red flags.
    • Support the development, maintenance and delivery of internal training programs as necessary. Update /enhance the current employee training program and associate training materials. Ensure required training is completed and completed.
    • Assist in the review, development and implementation of Compliance procedures while complying with all federal regulations.
    • Work closely and collaboratively with all AE legal entities, business units and functional areas to build upon existing compliance practices such as developing and revising policies and procedures, promoting training and conducting assessments.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • An ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience working in trade compliance.
  • Knowledge of international trade and Customs regulations, such as Harmonized System code.
  • Ability to read specification sheets, engineering drawing, analyze technical parameters (parametric values) in specification sheets as well as in other required documents and regulations.
  • Experience working in SAP and global trade management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver trade compliance training and briefings to internal collaborators.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make impactful decisions.
  • Flexible and able to balance multiple priorities at once and ability to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of global Customs and regulatory agencies including local Customs procedures as well as associated documentary requirements.
  • Must have strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and presentation skills. Communicates effectively and interacts professionally with customers, colleagues and management.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, multi-task, and use time effectively.
