Glencore Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a vacancy that exists for a Supervisor at the Surface Workshop. The role will require Supervision of the Fabrication team which includes a sand blasting and painting team and rubber liners. The Role

As an integral part of diverse team, this exciting position will suit a dynamic individual looking for a challenging yet rewarding opportunity in a department providing support to the wider Glencore business. This position would best suit an individual who can recognise opportunity and challenge the status quo. The core responsibility of this role will be to manage our repairs workload including but not limited to Fabrication and Welding repairs of mining equipment from Loader Bucket rebuilds, Structural steel fabrication, Light Vehicle tray fabrication, Chute rebuilds and Fabrication, Pipe fabrication, Smelter Lance repairs, Sand Blast and Paint and rubber lining.

The ideal candidate needs to have the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams both internally and externally with the ability to bring a different way of thinking and willingness to challenge the norm whilst focusing on capability growth will be essential to this role. This is a residentially based position in Mount Isa with some flexibility around roster options.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Providing a high level of service to the Queensland Metals Asset Stakeholders in both a planned and breakdown fashion to meet the needs of the business – customer focus will be a key performance indicator for this role
• Challenge cost and deliver value creation initiatives where practical including a reduction in wastage.
• Scope Jobs as they arrive
• Drive high standards of housekeeping and the cultural expectations that sustain it
• Improve processes and standards around Quality Assurance for the wider workshop team.
• Ability to build relationships across the business to deliver value and assist with quick win initiatives to help build morale and improve working conditions.
• Manage over time and Crew leave
• Conduct work place inspections to ensure Safety for all works are top priority
• Working with Planners to create highly accurate and workable weekly schedules.
  
  

• Possess a high level of attention to detail and demonstrate a can-do attitude.
• S1,2,3
• Articulate, demonstrate and promote the Queensland Metals vision statement
• Previous experience in a leadership position within processing areas, heavy industry or a large engineering workshop environment is necessary for this role.
• A Trade Qualification Boilermaker is preferred.
• Project Supervision experience would be highly regarded.
• Hold a current manual Australian driver’s license.
• Basic to Intermediate knowledge in the use of Microsoft Suites, Safe Apps and SAP would be advantageous.
