Sub-Con Management Department - Mechanical Engineer

A Mechanical Engineer in a Sub-contractor Management Department is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and ensuring that mechanical subcontractors perform their work according to project specifications, schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Subcontractor Coordination and Management
• Coordinate with mechanical subcontractors on project requirements, scope of work, and deliverables.
• Conduct regular meetings to review progress, issues, and upcoming activities.
• Ensure subcontractors understand contract specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
• Monitor subcontractor manpower, equipment, and resource allocation.
• Technical Review and Supervision
• Review mechanical drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals.
• Verify that installations comply with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Provide technical support and clarification to subcontractors when required.
• Resolve engineering and construction issues related to mechanical systems.
• Quality Assurance and Control
• Inspect mechanical works to ensure compliance with approved plans and quality standards.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, and inspection activities.
• Review inspection reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitor compliance with quality management procedures.
• Project Planning and Progress Monitoring
• Track subcontractor work progress against the project schedule.
• Identify delays and develop mitigation plans.
• Prepare progress reports and updates for project management.
• Coordinate work sequences with other disciplines (civil, electrical, architectural, etc.).
