Senior Devops Engineer

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and mature deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, and infrastructure reliability practices across proprietary platforms. This role operates in a live, revenue-impacting production environment supporting a high-SKU e-commerce platform built on ASP.NET MVC and MS SQL Server. The Senior DevOps Engineer is a senior individual contributor with direct management responsibility for one Philippines-based Junior DevOps Engineer and close collaboration with a US-based Junior DevOps Engineer. This role brings senior engineering judgment to improve deployment consistency, monitoring signal quality, and platform reliabilitywhile operating carefully within an existing production system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

CI/CD Pipeline Ownership

• Assess existing CI/CD components across all proprietary platforms, identify gaps, and extend or replace them to achieve reliable and consistent deployment coverage.
• Define and formalize deployment stages, environment promotion, rollback procedures, and approval gates for all supported platforms, including the e-commerce site and Control Panel (ERP/OMS/PMS).
• Integrate CI/CD pipelines with existing source control and development workflows while minimizing disruption to engineering teams.
• Fully document deployment pipelines, ensuring every step is explicit, reviewable, and maintainable by the team.
  
  

Deployment & Infrastructure Ownership

• Own Cloudflare DNS, CDN, and load balancer configuration. Evaluate and execute the transition of these responsibilities from network infrastructure to the DevOps function. WAF, bot management, and security policy remain with the US-based Network and Systems Admin and do not transfer to this role.
• Own production deployments across all proprietary platforms: the e-commerce site, the Control Panel (our ERP/OMS/PMS), and any associated systems. Deployment scope is not limited to the front-end.
• Maintain and improve infrastructure reliability. Identify single points of failure and address them systematically.
• Evaluate and recommend infrastructure tooling and configuration changes. Document the rationale and rollback approach before implementing.
  
  

Monitoring & Observability

• Own and extend the BetterStack monitoring stack, defining actionable alerts and reducing unnecessary noise.
• Expand and maintain Playwright synthetic monitoring for critical user flows across platforms.
• Establish and maintain incident response procedures, including severity definitions, escalation paths, and post-incident reviews.
• Provide visibility into deployment health, system uptime, and performance baselines for engineering leadership.
  
  

Incident Response

• Serve as the senior decision-maker during production incidents.
• Lead response efforts, determine impact and severity, and coordinate resolution activities.
• Ensure post-incident documentation and continuous improvement actions are completed.
  
  

People & Team Leadership

• Directly manage a Philippines-based Junior DevOps Engineer by setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting technical growth.
• Set and enforce technical standards for DevOps practices, documentation, monitoring, and deployments.
• Coordinate with engineering leadership on infrastructure priorities, capacity planning, and roadmap alignment.
  
  

ROLE BOUNDARIES

• Network infrastructure security (WAF, bot management, and security policies) remains with the US-based Network and Systems Administrator.
• Application code and database logic are owned by engineering teams; DevOps owns pipelines, deployment infrastructure, and operational reliability.
• Physical IT support and end-user hardware are out of scope for this role.
  
  

Skills And Qualifications

Experience and Certifications

• Graduated with a Bachelors degree in IT, or any related field.
• 5+ years of overall information technology (IT) experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on DevOps / CI/CD experience.
• Experience transitioning and owning existing infrastructure, including documentation and optimization.
• Knowledge of Windows Server environments and IIS alongside Linux or cloud infrastructure
• Experience building DevOps practices in organizations transitioning from manual to automated deployments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, including hybrid environments.
  
  

Technical Or Specific Skills (e.g., Technical, Computer)

• Strong written communication in English. Documentation is part of the job, not an afterthought. The team in the US needs to understand what you build.
• Proven hands-on experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines in production environments.
• Experience deploying and operating .NET or Windows-based applications using IIS or equivalent, including ASP.NET MVC deployment patterns.
• Experience with Cloudflare administration, including DNS management, CDN configuration, and load balancer setup.
• Strong experience in production monitoring and incident response using tools such as BetterStack or equivalent.
• Experience with Playwright or similar tools for synthetic monitoring and end to end testing.
• Background in e-commerce or high-traffic web platforms where uptime is critical.
• Experience working in live production environments with direct impact on customer traffic.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams with varying experience levels/
• Excellent written communication skills in English, with a focus on clear and structured documentation.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability in managing production systems.
