Quality Assurance Tester I Mid Level

Key Responsibilities

Manual Testing

• Design and execute comprehensive test plans, cases, and scripts for complex features
• Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, smoke, sanity, and UAT testing
• Conduct cross-browser, cross-platform, and compatibility testing
• Identify, document, and track defects using Jira/Azure DevOps
• Conduct edge case and negative testing scenarios
  
  

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Katalon Studio, or Testim
• Design test automation frameworks and best practices
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Evaluate and recommend new automation tools
  
  

• Perform basic security testing: input validation, authentication, authorization checks
• Conduct SQL injection, XSS, CSRF testing and test OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities
• Use security tools (OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite) to identify vulnerabilities
• Test role-based access control, privilege escalation, and API authentication
• Verify data masking, encryption, GDPR/PII compliance
• Document security findings with severity ratings and reproduction steps
  
  

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders on requirements
• Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and requirement reviews
• Post daily status reports and communicate findings, progress, and blockers
• Report test results and quality metrics to project managers
• Escalate critical issues promptly
  
  

• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
• Ensure deliverables meet quality standards before deployment
• Contribute to QA documentation, guidelines, and continuous improvement
• Monitor quality metrics and KPIs
• Stay updated with industry trends and testing techniques
  
  

• Maintain test documentation, repositories, and knowledge bases
• Track testing hours, effort estimates, and resource allocation
• Coordinate test environment setup with IT/DevOps
• Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports
  
  

• Mentor and train junior QA testers on tools, techniques, and best practices
• Assign and monitor testing tasks based on skill level and workload
• Conduct peer reviews of test plans, cases, and defect reports
• Provide performance feedback and identify training needs
• Facilitate knowledge sharing within the QA team
  
  

• Participate in on-call rotation for production support
• Support UAT coordination and client-facing testing
• Contribute to POCs for new tools and technologies
  
  

• Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience: 2-3 years in QA with expertise in manual testing of web applications; experience with AI tools or analytics platforms preferred
• Security Testing: Proficiency in vulnerability assessment (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF) and tools like Burp Suite
• Test Automation: Proven experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Katalon Studio, or Testim; CI/CD integration experience
• Tools: Advanced knowledge of Jira for defect management and test documentation
• Methodology: Substantive Agile/Scrum experience

• Leadership and mentorship experience with junior QA personnel
• Understanding of web architectures, APIs, databases, and authentication (OAuth, JWT)

• Experience testing AI/ML or generative AI applications
• Background in media monitoring, analytics, or enterprise content management
• API testing proficiency (Postman, REST Assured)
• Performance testing knowledge (JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling)
• Cloud and containerization familiarity (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and PII protection requirements
• Startup or rapid-growth environment experience
• Active participation in QA professional communities
• Certifications: ISTQB, CEH, CISA, or related credentials
