We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and execution of complex electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale electrical engineering projects.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to innovative solutions that drive project success and operational excellence.

role responsibilities

• Responsible for the running of large projects
• Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. (Several building types)
• Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
• Surveys, tests, carries out dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
• Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
• Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client
• Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
• Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
• Leads on the coordination of engineering services
• Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions
  
  

job requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• Preferably 10–15 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary design consulting firm; overseas experience is an advantage
• Experience handling large-scale projects, preferably including data centre design
• Proficient in designing electrical systems, including LV power systems, lighting, FDAS, earthing & lightning protection, and ELV systems (security, telecom/data systems)
• Experienced in MV power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, selectivity, and coordination studies
• Knowledgeable in the application of British Standards and IEC Standards in electrical design
• Proficient in design software such as Dialux, Amtech or ETAP, Navis, Bluebeam, or equivalent
• Well-versed in industry practices related to equipment specifications, brand selection, and regional applications
• Able to provide in-depth technical review of complete electrical designs
• Knowledgeable in project management, scheduling, and project cost analysis; capable of monitoring project progress and coordinating with other disciplines
• Currently handling a team of engineers for specific project assignments; able to facilitate and chair weekly project meetings
• Strong team player who encourages group cooperation, initiative, and knowledge sharing
