Chief Building Engineer

About The Role

The Chief Engineer will lead the engineering and technical operations of a premier mall. This role needs to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all building systems, including MEP, HVAC, and critical infrastructure. This role drives operational excellence, safety and compliance, energy efficiency, and project delivery—while leading a skilled engineering team to support the mall's day-to-day operations and long-term business goals.

Key responsibilities

Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of all building systems

Develop and execute Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules to maximize uptime

Optimize energy and water management systems

Manage technical resources and respond to merchant/operations engineering needs

Ensure compliance with building codes, fire safety, and environmental regulations

Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments

Maintain emergency systems and serve as the primary responder for technical emergencies

Implement energy-saving initiatives aligned with green building policies

Prepare and manage operating and capital budgets

Lead and develop the engineering team through coaching and training

About You

Licensed Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Minimum of 6 years' solid experience in electro-mechanical industry and property management

Strong knowledge of local regulations, building codes, and compliance requirements

Proven experience in managing technical teams, contractors, and large-scale facilities

Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in MS Office applications and engineering/project management tools (SAP, CADD, etc.)

Action-oriented, collaborative, and committed to operational excellence

Proven track record in managing high-performing technical teams

Strong project management skills, handling multiple simultaneous projects

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across all organizational levels
