We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of AVP Processing – GC UK – OVERSEAS SETTLEMENTS.

Directly manage, plan, lead, and control Securities Operations within the Securities Centre of Excellence to maximise efficiency and productivity, delivering value and consistently high-quality service in line with agreed service levels and customer SLAs. Build a high-performing team by inspiring and motivating colleagues, sustaining strong morale, and providing effective day-to-day leadership. The AVP is accountable for directing and leading operational teams across one or more Clearing and Settlements areas.

In the VP’s absence, local support is limited, so the role holder must rely primarily on their own business experience and, where needed, liaise with the VP for guidance.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead Securities Operations end-to-end within the Securities Centre of Excellence, with direct accountability for planning, directing, and controlling day-to-day activities to maximise efficiency and productivity, while delivering consistent, high-quality service aligned to agreed service levels and customer SLAs.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing team by inspiring and motivating colleagues, maintaining strong morale, and providing clear, effective leadership across the function.
  • Provide operational leadership at AVP level, directing and coordinating teams across one or more defined operational areas, ensuring priorities, resources, and outcomes are managed effectively.
  • Maintain robust governance and controls by upholding HSBC internal control standards, ensuring timely implementation of internal and external audit actions, and addressing matters raised by external regulators.
  • Proactively manage operational risk through ongoing assessment of inherent risks, taking into account evolving economic and market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, procedural changes, management restructures, and the impact of new technology, in collaboration with relevant Group entities.

Requirements

  • A graduate diploma, degree in any discipline or equivalent experience. Higher qualification not a bar provided aspirations commensurate with the position.
  • A strong Financial Analysis background is preferred.
  • Credit and financial statement analysis will also be highly advantageous.
  • Bachelor degree holder in business, finance or related discipline
  • Knowledge in MS Excel and Macro is a plus
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage time well and with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Client facing and negotiation skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to maintain good working relationship with clients
