The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the MBPS Finance Local Controllership Manager, the Assistant Manager - Finance is primarily accountable for the accounting, analysis, and reporting of finance activities supporting MBPS Finance Controllership. The role plays a critical part in expense management, including intercompany recharging to Asia Business Units, and in the preparation of management reports used by Business Units and corporate stakeholders. The role reports to and supports the Finance Manager in managing day‑to‑day operations and reporting, delivering timely and accurate financial insights, and maintaining strong trust and partnerships with internal and external customers. This opportunity provides exposure to global stakeholders, finance transformation initiatives, and leadership responsibilities within a shared services environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and upload journal entries to support month‑end closing activities, including intercompany allocations, recharges, billing, and settlements
- Build and maintain accounting models for new transactions and processes
- Perform bank, intercompany, and system reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information
- Serve as Asia point‑of‑contact for clearing intercompany variances and disputes with Regional Offices, Asia Business Units, and other segment
- Prepare variance analysis and commentary for the Financial Statements Review Template (FSRT) for corporate reporting
- Maintain cash flow forecasts and monitor expected cash inflows and outflows
- Prepare audit schedules and provide accurate and timely responses to auditor queries
- Process Migration & Transition
- Learn, document, and support the migration of accounting and finance processes in close coordination with business units
- Assist leaders and project teams in identifying processes suitable for migration and streamlining within MBPS
- Act as the project point‑of‑contact for updates, challenges, parallel runs, and results monitoring
- Participate in knowledge transfer sessions and transition of new work, ensuring adherence to MBPS and Control Tower documentation standards
- Technical Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Train and mentor junior team members on migrated processes through classroom training, reverse shadowing, and production support
- Create training plans for new joiners and ensure complete end‑to‑end knowledge transfer
- Serve as subject matter expert and go‑to person for assigned processes and locations
- Support leaders in task allocation and ensuring operational readiness of the team
- Provide timely feedback, coaching, and additional training as required prior to escalation to the Business Unit
- Quality Review & Governance
- Review assigned processes in addition to daily and monthly production responsibilities
- Ensure all deliverables undergo internal quality review prior to submission to the Business Unit
- Enforce adherence to documented process controls and quality checklists
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action planning for incidents encountered
- Point‑of‑Contact & Stakeholder Management
- Lead governance meetings with onshore counterparts, providing operational updates and highlighting milestones, risks, and areas requiring attention
- Serve as primary contact for process‑related inquiries, issues, and task‑specific clarifications
- Support migration and transition activities, including review of process documentation and coordination with the Transition Team
- Automation Champion
- Identify and propose automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and cost effectiveness
- Support junior team members on automation initiatives
- Coordinate with Business Developers on the progress of automation projects
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and report results to leadership
Required Qualifications
- At least 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and management reporting, with a minimum of 3 years supporting an international organization or Shared Service Center
- CPA with a university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments and manage aggressive timelines
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (formulas and pivot tables required)
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Willing to work on a day/morning shift and render overtime when required
- Willing to report onsite in Diliman, Quezon City
