Software Developer

Job Summary

The Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving software applications and technology solutions that support Dermorepubliq’s business and operational requirements.

The role participates across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, system integration, troubleshooting, maintenance, documentation, and continuous improvement.

The position also supports the development and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation solutions, including Large Language Model (LLM) integration, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, prompt engineering, model evaluation, fine-tuning, and other emerging technologies based on business requirements and demonstrated technical capability.

The scope, complexity, level of technical ownership, decision-making authority, and leadership responsibilities assigned to the role will depend on demonstrated competency, experience, and organizational requirements.

The unified scope builds on the common responsibilities already present in the existing Junior Software Developer JD, including application development, SDLC participation, APIs, troubleshooting, documentation, version control, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain web, desktop, mobile, and enterprise applications based on business and operational requirements.
• Translate business and functional requirements into appropriate technical solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, secure, scalable, and well-documented code following established coding standards and software engineering best practices.
• Participate in and, where appropriate, lead activities throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate technical feasibility, dependencies, risks, scalability, and development effort for proposed applications and enhancements.
• Identify and address technical debt and opportunities to improve application architecture, maintainability, and performance.

Artificial Intelligence & Automation

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain AI-enabled applications and features using Large Language Models, AI APIs, and related technologies.
• Develop or support solutions using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector databases.
• Support model evaluation, optimization, fine-tuning, and customization where appropriate.
• Prepare, structure, and validate data used for AI-enabled applications and model improvement.
• Test and evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, relevance, reliability, security, and business usefulness.
• Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve business processes, productivity, analytics, and operational efficiency.
• Apply appropriate data privacy, information security, access control, and responsible AI practices.

These AI responsibilities reflect the expanded capability already incorporated into the Senior Software Developer scope, including LLMs, RAG, AI agents, prompt engineering, model evaluation, and fine-tuning.

System Integration & Maintenance

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain APIs, third-party services, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Support secure authentication, authorization, and data exchange between integrated applications.
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization of existing applications.
• Monitor and resolve application issues and recommend corrective and preventive improvements.
• Maintain source code and version control using tools such as Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, cloud-based development, application deployment, and production maintenance.
• Modernize or improve existing applications where appropriate.

Technical Leadership & Development Quality

• Participate in code reviews and provide or apply technical feedback to improve code quality, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Promote coding standards, documentation requirements, development practices, testing standards, and software quality.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other developers where required.
• Review technical designs, application architecture, APIs, integrations, database structures, and development approaches as appropriate.
• Assist in identifying technical risks, dependencies, capability requirements, and resource needs.
• Share technical knowledge and support capability development within the software development team.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, work guidance, or supervision where assigned based on role requirements.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work closely with the IT Supervisor, IT team, business users, process owners, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver appropriate technology solutions.
• Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, technical analysis, UAT, pilot testing, deployment, system turnover, and hypercare activities.
• Communicate technical concepts, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain relevant technical documentation, including:

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, preferably involving enterprise or business applications.
• Demonstrated experience independently designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining production applications.
• Experience working across multiple stages of the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising software developers, including task delegation, code review, coaching, and delivery monitoring.
• Experience designing or contributing to application and system architecture.
• Experience developing applications using two or more programming languages or technology stacks such as:

• Hands-on experience with APIs, system integrations, databases, version control, and deployment processes.
• Experience developing or integrating AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI applications is preferred.

• Proficient in modern front-end and back-end technologies such as React, Angular, Vue.js, .NET, Node.js, Python, Django/FastAPI, or Laravel.

• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development is an advantage.

Work Environment

The Software Developer position operates in both office and remote environments. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams through virtual meetings and on-site coordination as needed. Occasional travel between Dermorepubliq office locations may be required to support software deployment, user training, or system maintenance, ensuring consistent delivery and performance of applications across all sites.
