As our international operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team in Manila.

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting, tax, and statutory compliance requirements of our Philippine operations.

The main focus of this position will be ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, filing, and payment of Philippine taxes and other statutory obligations. The successful candidate will have strong practical knowledge of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requirements, withholding taxes, VAT, corporate income tax, government contributions, payroll compliance, and local corporate requirements.

The Accountant will work closely with the wider Finance team and relevant external advisers to ensure that the companys Philippine entity remains compliant while maintaining accurate and complete financial records.

Key Responsibilities

Tax & BIR Compliance

• Take ownership of the preparation and timely filing of Philippine tax returns and other statutory submissions in accordance with BIR requirements.
• Prepare and file VAT returns, including BIR Form 2550Q.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly Expanded Withholding Tax returns, including BIR Forms 0619E and 1601EQ.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly Final Withholding Tax returns, including BIR Forms 0619F and 1601FQ.
• Prepare and file Withholding Tax on Compensation requirements, including BIR Form 1601C.
• Prepare quarterly and annual corporate income tax returns, including BIR Forms 1702Q and 1702RT.
• Prepare and issue BIR Form 2307 – Certificate of Creditable Tax Withheld at Source, as required.
• Ensure all tax payments, returns and supporting schedules are completed accurately and within applicable deadlines.
• Maintain complete supporting documentation and reconciliations for tax filings and payments.
• Keep up to date with relevant changes to Philippine tax regulations and BIR requirements.

Statutory & Corporate Compliance

• Coordinate and ensure the timely remittance of mandatory government contributions, including SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG.
• Manage and monitor annual business permit and licence renewals and coordinate with the relevant local government authorities.
• Support the preparation and filing of the companys annual General Information Sheet (GIS) and other applicable SEC requirements.
• Maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar covering tax filings, government remittances, business permits and other statutory deadlines.
• Liaise with the BIR, SEC, local government units and other government agencies when required.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers and other professional service providers as necessary.

Payroll & Accounting

• Support the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll.
• Ensure payroll-related taxes, statutory deductions and government contributions are correctly calculated, recorded and remitted.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure transactions are correctly recorded in the accounting system.
• Process and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses and other day-to-day accounting transactions.
• Perform bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare schedules, reports and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Assist the wider Finance team with financial reporting and other accounting requirements as needed.
• Identify discrepancies or compliance issues and ensure they are investigated and resolved promptly.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including hands-on experience with Philippine tax and statutory compliance.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is preferred.
• Strong practical knowledge of Philippine BIR regulations and tax filing requirements.
• Hands-on experience preparing VAT, withholding tax and corporate income tax returns.
• Experience with relevant BIR forms, particularly 2550Q, 0619E, 1601EQ, 0619F, 1601FQ, 1601C, 1702Q, 1702RT and 2307.
• Good knowledge of SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG contributions and remittance requirements.
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll-related tax compliance.
• Familiarity with Philippine business permit renewals and SEC corporate compliance requirements, including the General Information Sheet (GIS).
• Good understanding of general accounting principles, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Experience using Xero accounting software is preferred.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple statutory deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of local accounting and compliance requirements while collaborating effectively with an international Finance team.
