Job Purpose and Impact

The R&D Data Science Senior Supervisor will lead a junior team and be a hands on data scientist to develop proof of concepts, minimum viable products and fully deployable solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create sophisticated predictive and optimization models and direct the implementation of the strategy that helps deliver significant value to our businesses and functions.

Key Accountabilities

• Continuously seek out best practices and develop skills.
• Oversee and work with multidisciplinary teams of data engineers, software engineers, data scientists and business subject matter experts to deliver complex projects on time and within budgets.
• Translate ambiguous and complex business problems into project charters that clearly identify and advise on the technical risks and project scope.
• Take ownership for the entire data science workflow that will include well defined, complex project scoping, exploratory data analysis, model development, deployment and monitoring.
• Lead a high performing and highly engaged early career team to provide data science solutions across the entire company.
• Partner collaboratively with business leaders and customers to identify opportunities to leverage data science.
• Lead university partnerships and recruiting.
• Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.

• Bachelors degree in data science, computer science, math, engineering or related field or equivalent experience,
• Confirmed ability to present to non technical audiences
• Strong python programming skills
• Experience in a minimum of two machine learning algorithms approaches: unsupervised, supervised and reinforcement learning
• Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
  
  

• Masters degree or PhD in data science, computer science, math, engineering or related field
• Strong SQL skills
• Strong data visualization skills
• Two years of supervisory experience
• Experience in agriculture
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Experience in software development environment and code management or versioning
• Experience working with Hadoop and other distributed computing frameworks
• Experience working with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
