Position Summary

Under limited supervision, conducts in-process and finished product testing to determine adherence to established specifications of quality and purity.

This shift will be from 7 PM – 5 AM four nights a week after training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests and analyze data for a variety of purposes, such as production, pollution control, quality control, and minor research.
• Test and analyze products, such as feed, beverage, and industrial alcohol, to determine if product meets plant specifications prior to release.
• Release in spec vessels and report out of spec vessels.
• Test and analyze production samples, such as fermenters, beerstills, rectifiers, etc., and report uncharacteristic results.
• Test and analyze wastewater samples to ensure effluent is within GPSD discharge limits and report any violations.
• Document results of tests, readings, etc. in logbooks and in TLC (Total Lab Client).
• Complete certificates of analysis.
• Prepare chemical solutions for use in lab.
• Maintain and calibrate all lab equipment and related field instrumentation.
• Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, TTB, USP, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines.
• Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Requirements & Qualifications

• Ability to work on multiple tasks.

• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to understand and comply with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements.
• Computer skills to utilize lab instrument operation programs.
• Demonstrated math skills to perform calculations associated with lab testing.
• 2- or 4-year science degree is preferred, a high school diploma or GED is required.
• 2 plus years of work experience in a quality assurance lab preferred.
