Your role
As An Student Finance Officer, You Will
Process student tuition payments, fee adjustments, account updates, and approved refunds accurately.
Maintain complete student financial records across Student Management Systems (SMS) and finance platforms.
Monitor student accounts, issue payment reminders, and contact students regarding overdue fees with empathy and professionalism.
Negotiate and set up formal student payment plans within approved institutional policy guidelines.
Follow debt collection procedures, including account escalations and coordinating with external collection agencies when necessary.
Reconcile payment daily data entries and resolve fee, invoice, or receipt inquiries from students.
Collaborate with Student Services and Finance teams to resolve account discrepancies and participate in SMS system testing.

What You Need:
Qualifications/Experience: Certificate IV, Diploma qualification, or equivalent relevant background in finance administration, accounts receivable, or billing.
Payment & Record Accuracy: Demonstrated hands-on experience processing transactions, maintaining ledger entries, and managing account adjustments with zero error tolerance.
Fee Collection & Debt Management: Practical understanding of debt collection procedures, overdue account escalation, and payment plan administration.
Communication & Conflict Resolution: Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to handle delicate, respectful conversations with students regarding outstanding financial obligations.
Technical Aptitude: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience navigating Student Management Systems (SMS), Finance ERPs, or CRMs.
Preferred Skills/expertise
Direct experience working within the Australian VET or Higher Education (HE) sectors.
Deep familiarity with Australian education funding frameworks (e.g., VET Student Loans, FEE-HELP, or state government subsidies).
Hands-on experience using education SMS platforms (e.g., VETtrak, JobReady, Paradigm, or Canvas) alongside accounting systems.
Strong multitasking abilities to manage competing administrative priorities during peak enrollment periods.
