Job Purpose

The Senior Database Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features while simultaneously improving existing functionality. The Senior Database Engineer will be fix reported bugs and work towards improving application performance, as well as continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with the development, maintenance and optimization of several SQL Server databases that supports highly available enterprise software applications
• Master of Dynamic SQL, Joins, query formatting, debugging SQL Procedures.
• Perform data profiling of source data to identify data quality issues and anomalies, business knowledge embedded in data, gathering of natural keys, and metadata information
• Commit quality code, reliably and on time to help the team achieve roadmap goals and customer commitment.
• Collaborate with the team to identify, prioritize, and execute on key data delivery milestones
• Prepare technical design document & data dictionary
• Evaluate code to ensure validity, HIPAA compliance, secure coding practices, and compatibility
• Report any security or HIPAA violations or concerns to the HIPAA Officers in a timely fashion
• Other duties as assigned
• Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
• Understand and comply with Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures at all times
• Limit viewing of PHI to the absolute minimum as necessary to perform assigned duties.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 10 years of Database and software development experience
• Healthcare domain experience preferred
• Working experience with ETL process using SSIS preferred
• Experience with any public cloud platform for data storage and processing
• A strong Hands-on exp of T-SQL is essential. Should be able to write complex queries to retrieve, manipulate, and update data in relational databases.
• Expertise in writing complex SQL Queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and indexes
• Ability to ensure data quality by implementing data validation checks and data cleansing processes
• Skills in optimizing SQL queries, indexing, and database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing
• Clear communication around technical concepts and ideas and the ability to collaborate with engineering and other parts of the organization
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Good documentation practices to maintain records of database schemas, ETL processes, and data flows
• Be a self-starter and work well independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
• Proven ability to work calmly under tight deadlines or in critical situations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization
• Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

• Work Schedule: US hours, night shift; must be flexible to accommodate business needs.
