Key Responsibilities
The Senior BI Developer will play a critical role in advancing World Vision’s Data Services capability under Strategy Realization and Innovation (SREI). This role focuses on building robust, scalable, and efficient BI and data solutions supporting the Our Impact Our Story (OIOS) data ecosystem.
The incumbent will lead the design, development, and optimization of data migration pipelines, advanced SQL data modeling, and visualization solutions to enable timely, accurate, and insightful reporting across the partnership.
The role is hands-on, SQL-heavy, and requires deep technical expertise in ETL design, cloud data platforms, and modern BI tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Data Migration and Integration: Design and develop optimized SQL-based data pipelines and ETL workflows for migrating legacy systems into OIOS. Ensure high data quality, completeness, and reconciliation across staging, warehouse, and reporting layers. Seamless data flow and accurate migration between systems supporting OIOS deployment and sustainability.
Data Modeling and Analytics Enablement: Create and maintain robust data models and schemas optimized for analytics and reporting. Partner with data analysts and data scientists to structure data for advanced insights. Reliable, high-performance data foundation for analytics and decision-making across business domains.
Business Intelligence Development: Develop dashboards and reports in Power BI and Tableau, integrating data from OIOS, Horizon, Grants, Sponsorship, and Finance systems. Implement governance and versioning standards for all BI assets. Actionable, user-friendly visualizations enabling evidence-based decisions across the partnership.
Quality Assurance & Documentation: Establish and enforce standards for data validation, error handling, and documentation of data models, transformation logic, and data dictionaries. Consistent, validated, and well-documented data environment supporting trust and reusability.
Continuous Learning & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging BI technologies (e.g., Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake) and apply them to enhance scalability and automation. Continuous improvement and modernization of BI and data practices in alignment with WV’s digital transformation goals.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related quantitative field.
Certification in SQL, Azure Data Engineer, Power BI, and AWS Data Analytics is preferred.
Required Professional Experience
7–10 years of experience in BI development and data engineering.
Proven expertise in SQL development, performance tuning, and query optimization.
Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (ADF, SSIS, dbt, Glue, etc.) and data warehousing (Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Synapse).
Strong experience designing and building Power BI or Tableau dashboards connected to complex data models.
Experience managing data migration and integration projects at enterprise scale.
Language: Effective in written and verbal communication in English

Preferred Experience, Knowledge And/or Other Qualifications
Exposure to cloud ecosystems (Azure/AWS) and data pipelines for BI delivery.
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases in extraction, mining and transformation and presentation of data on various reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
Familiarity with Python for automation or lightweight data transformation.
Understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
Prior experience in NGO, humanitarian, or large distributed organizational contexts is an advantage.
