Job Description

  • Performs diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-ray examinations, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) scans and Ultrasound
  • Follows instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patients body needs imaging
  • Correctly positions the patient, adjusts the imaging equipment to the specified position
  • Produces diagnostic images, reporting important information to the Physician, and updating patients records
  • Talks the patient through the procedure and answers questions to lower their anxiety
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment
  • Monitors patients during examinations, ensuring their safety, and following procedures to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation to the patients and themselves
  • Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders

What Will You Do

  • Carry out magnetic resonance imaging procedures to best practice standards of radiographic technique.
  • Provide a great experience for patients attending for MRI scanning, supporting them through the process from referral to results
  • Run quality assurance checks on equipment and action as appropriate
  • Respect and work within patients and service users customs, values and spiritual beliefs, making sure their views are sought and considered.
  • Support patient bookings and make sure Patient Information Systems are maintained with accurate and up-to-date information
  • Understand and work in line with our suite of corporate policies supporting personal and clinical safety, including the Health and Safety Policy and Infection Prevention and Control Policy
  • Demonstrate safe, effective practice in line with policies and procedures
  • Maintain professional competencies and CPD.
  • Take ownership and fulfil the requirements of any required statutory and mandatory training

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and must be a Licensed Radiologic Technologist
  • At least 2 to 3 years experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, and compassion
  • Good mathematical abilities and technical skills
