Power And Market Systems Officer

The Power and Market Systems Specialist supports the development, execution, and maintenance of power system and electricity market models. The role contributes to the simulation and analysis of market outcomes, price forecasts, and system operations to inform commercial strategies, investment decisions, and/or regulatory positions. The analyst collaborates with various teams to ensure modeling outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain market simulation models using platforms such as PLEXOS, PSSE, or similar tools.
• Support scenario analysis for energy price forecasting, dispatch optimization, and
  
  

• Process and clean large datasets from system operators, market reports, and internal databases.
• Assist in the automation of modeling workflows using R, Python, SQL, or other relevant tools.
• Interpret and document simulation results, highlighting key insights for commercial and regulatory teams.
• Stay informed on market rules, power system developments, and regulatory changes that may impact modeling assumptions or results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trading, strategy, and regulatory affairs, to address business questions through modeling and analysis.
• Ensure model input data accuracy and maintain proper documentation for transparency and reproducibility. Model back-testing and version control.
• Conduct research on emerging technologies such as battery storage, demand response, and distributed energy resources (DERs) and assess their market impacts.
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in power systems analysis, energy modeling, or related roles.
• Experience with modeling tools (e.g., PLEXOS, Aurora, PSSE) is preferred.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data handling and automation.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to translate technical results into business insights.
