LAB PATIENT ACCOUNT CSR

About the Role:

We're looking for a Patient Account Representative to support insurance billing and claims processing for a healthcare/lab client. This role is primarily focused on accurate billing/coding, claims support, and account reconciliation, with a secondary responsibility of handling patient calls and billing inquiries. The right candidate has a strong billing/claims background and is comfortable also providing phone-based patient support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Insurance Billing & Claims Processing:

• Accurately enter and reconcile billing data (CPT/ICD-10 codes) in Intergy for all patient encounters
• Verify payer-specific information and authorization criteria for claims accuracy
• Append relevant claim details such as modifiers, date of injury (DOI), referring provider, and NDC codes as required
• Reconcile encounters daily, ensuring completeness and accuracy
• Identify billing discrepancies or mismatched entries and follow up with appropriate parties to resolve
• Meet goals for error-free work, compliance requirements, and value-based care agreements
• Maintain benchmarks, including timely charge entry within 1–2 days of provider sign-off
  
  
  

Customer Service / Patient Support:

• Handle inbound and outbound calls related to patient billing inquiries via phone and email
• Provide clear, professional support to patients regarding account and billing questions
• Escalate complex account issues to the appropriate parties when needed
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• 2–3 years of experience in medical billing, insurance claims processing, healthcare AR, or related experience — required
• Strong understanding of CPT/ICD-10 coding, claims workflows, and payer requirements
• Comfortable also handling phone-based patient interaction alongside billing work
• Familiarity with laboratory or clinical billing workflows is an advantage, but not required
• HIPAA Certification [preferred]
