Job Description

Devex is the leading source of career advice and information for the global development community. Today more than ever, thousands of development professionals find themselves out of work and millions of young people and mid-level professionals want to find a career with impact. The transformation happening in global development is unprecedented and creates important questions for anyone with a career in this industry.

We’re looking for an experienced professional from the global development community who can lend their voice and expertise to those in need of career guidance. You’ll author a weekly newsletter in your voice, host a podcast, and conduct live video interviews with leaders and career experts.

You don’t need to have journalism experience but you do need to be a top-notch communicator and a compelling writer who understands global development. You’ll use those skills to help build out our careers content offering and grow our paid career account subscription.

This is a role on our membership editorial team reporting to the business editor.

• Author a weekly newsletter in your voice covering the latest career-related global development news and sharing advice
• Host weekly live video interviews with leaders and career experts
• Launch a careers-focused global development podcast
• Commission articles and reports looking at key trends affecting jobseekers in the world of international development
• Produce social media posts and marketing emails that showcase our careers content and help promote our paid career account subscription
• Work with editors to manage a monthly editorial calendar and with the Devex marketing and social media team to source, edit, organize, repackage, and publish new content using multiple channels.

Required Qualifications

• Highly relevant experience as a global development professional which positions you to provide career advice
• A wide network of global development professionals you can call on for advice and ideas
• Top-notch communications skills in English — writing, speaking, interviewing

Nice-to-haves

• Professional experience in journalism or communications
• A portfolio of blogs, newsletters, podcasts or other communications products that showcase your skills
• Experience as a career advisor

This role is a remote position and the salary range will be based on the candidate’s location and market rates to align with Devex’s global compensation philosophy. If selected for an interview, we can share the compensation range specific to your geographic area.
