The role is responsible for a portfolio specializing in the modern data stack (specifically Power BI and Microsoft Fabric) and digital solutions. The Senior Digital Developer, works autonomously in all scenarios, taking sole responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of solutions. Role may supervise junior colleagues on larger projects, taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of deliverables produced by other members of the team, providing leadership & guidance.

The role manages an area of practice or specialism, sharing knowledge with others, including creating documentation and learning materials. The role may lead a team with line management responsibilities for a small team.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Develop outputs and processes that collectively form part of a solution that enables or enhances project delivery. May take responsibility for the work of junior colleagues and oversee management of a small team.
• Establishes and ensures compliance of work of role work of others with the Application Lifecycle (Dev-Test-Prod). Work to an Agile methodology, tracking deliverables through an organized system such as Kanban or DevOps (Software Development and Information Technology Operations). Maintains source control of code.
• Responsible for managing access to assets through role-based security, including to Environments and Workspaces. Demonstrates active management of data security and integrity throughout development activities.
• Coordinates the interface with a range of data sources, specializing in Project Controls functions (including Schedule, Cost, Risk, and Forecasting), and draw on knowledge or experience to make recommendations on how each of the elements may contribute to the overall solution.
• Develops and translates business requirements into a technical specification (primarily Microsoft tech stack – PowerBI, Fabric and PowerPlatform), taking into consideration the overall digital and architectural landscape of a project. Identify and help to resolve issues or data quality concerns across the end-to-end solution.
• Manages an area of practice or specialism and share knowledge with others, including through presenting sessions or creation content aligned to specialism.
• Actively and demonstrably support the growth and development of others in the team. This may include line management responsibilities and guiding and providing direction to others.
• Actively keeps abreast of new technologies and techniques in the market, and identify business applications for their use, introducing into project work where appropriate.
• Develops and maintains a series of internal and external stakeholder relationships. Manages and influences key senior stakeholders for portfolio.
• Delivers the strategy/area plans for portfolio, utilizing SME (subject matter expertise) and knowledge in the digital development domain.
  
  

You’ll Need To Have

• 5+ years’ experience with chosen technology stack (or equivalent).
• Has a substantial knowledge of all aspects of a modern data stack (Expert Power BI and strong Microsoft Fabric knowledge is essential) and understands other complementary tools and applications across the industry.
• Keeps abreast of new technologies and techniques and able to identify business applications for their use, introducing into project work where appropriate.
• Understands Maces core Programme Management Office (PMO) systems (Schedule, Cost, Risk, and Forecasting) and how they interface with BI and Reporting tools.
• Able to express how each of the elements interact and make recommendations on overall solution architecture based on experience and industry guidance.
• Ability to work independently and autonomously delivering end to end solutions, including on more complex projects.
• May supervise junior colleagues on larger projects, taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of deliverables produced by other members of the team as well as their own.
• Demonstrates alignment to application lifecycle management processes (Dev-Test-Prod).
• Maintains source control of templates and version control of deliverables.
• Defines, documents, implements and upholds role-based security and access control, where appropriate, for any deliverables and development environments.
• Able to elicit and document requirements and translate to a technical specification that underpins development activity for self and others.
• Communicates clearly with all stakeholders, providing updates on timeliness and quality of delivery.
• Raises, manages and helps to resolve issues.
• Manages User Acceptance Testing, providing handover training and documentation where appropriate.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Creates or contributes to client-facing reports and recommendations.
• Crafts visually effective presentations. Presents content in a structured way, taking account of audience and purpose.

• Sound understanding of relational data principles and User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design considerations.
• Considered a subject matter expert in one or more areas of technical knowledge.
• Able to define policies and ways of working aligned to their area of expertise.
• May manage the DevOps process on projects with larger development teams, ensuring delivery of outcomes to time, cost and quality.
• Establishes ways of working on projects aligned to application lifecycle management processes.
• Ensures consistency of delivery across all projects.
• Plays a key role in quality assurance of processes, ensuring alignment to Centre of Excellence (CofE) policy and fitness for purpose.
• Manages interfaces with cross-functional teams, e.g. client IT, PMO functional owners, etc. to proactively manage dependencies and blockers.
• Demonstrates high levels of written communication tailored to specific purposes, such as bids and proposals, business cases and policy documentation.
• Considered an effective communicator. Contributes meaningfully to group discussions. Comfortable presenting to large audiences, including the wider Digital team.
