Job Description
- Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure proper coding of claims to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials.
- Stay updated with coding guidelines and regulations, including CPT, HCPCS, and insurance rules.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures to ensure accurate coding.
- Conduct audits of coded records to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Educational Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Health Information Management or related field
- Experience Level: 3-5 years of experience in medical coding
- Skills and Competencies: Medical Coder License, CPC / CIC certification, solid understanding of CPT & HCPCS coding systems
- Qualities and Traits: Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills
- Responsibilities and Duties: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding practices and participate in ongoing education
