What You Will Do

The Director, Public Relations & Social Media is a dual-mandate leadership role responsible for developing and driving Kiehls US PR, brand partnerships, and social media strategies. This individual will serve as the brands voice to the outside world — building authentic connections with consumers, media, influencers, and partners that reflect Kiehls unique heritage, values, and community-first spirit.

Reporting to the AVP, Consumer Engagement, this leader will design and execute forward-thinking, fully integrated PR and social campaigns in close collaboration with the marketing, digital, and retail teams. He/she will be responsible for growing brand awareness, deepening consumer engagement, and identifying partnership opportunities that are aligned with Kiehls brand vision — from new product launches to philanthropic and experiential initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a passionate, creative, and strategic communications professional who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, culture, and commerce — someone who understands Kiehls distinct personality and can translate it powerfully across both earned media and owned social channels.

Public Relations & Brand Partnerships

  • Develop and execute comprehensive, strategic PR and brand partnership programs that support product launches, key brand initiatives, and philanthropic/community efforts aligned with Kiehls brand DNA
  • Identifyand cultivate high-impact partnership opportunities including talent, media, and brand collaborations ensuring all partnerships align with Kiehls global brand vision and business goals
  • Support negotiation strategy and close ROI-positive partnership agreements in collaboration with theAVP and legal teams
  • Manage relationships with external PR agencies, brand partners, and media contacts,maintainingopen and consistent communication
  • Liaise withinternal and externalteams to ensure on-brand execution of product launches, press events, and brand initiatives
  • Support internal LOréal press opportunities and lead crisis communications response as necessary
  • Manage and develop PR Managers and Coordinators, providing mentorship and clear direction on priorities and executions

Social Media Strategy & Content

  • Design, oversee, and manage Kiehls US social media content strategy across all platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, and emerging channels)
  • Develop andmaintaina monthly content calendar in collaboration with Marketing, Digital, and Retail teams, ensuring alignment with product launch windows and brand moments
  • Provide engaging, on-brand content with a consistent brand voice that reflects Kiehls heritage, community values, and productexpertise
  • Stay current on trending topics, platform updates, and pop culture to ensure contentremainsrelevant and culturally connected
  • Develop and implementa KiehlsUS social media playbook,establishingbest practices and guardrails for tone, cadence, and channel-specific content
  • Oversee community management and translate social sentiment and consumer listening insights into actionable ideas and strategy
  • Facilitate brainstorming sessions to generate pioneering content ideas across the team

Analytics, Reporting & Budget

  • Define KPIs and performance benchmarks to quantify the success of PR campaigns, social media programs, and partnerships
  • Monitor and analyze web analytics dashboards, social reporting tools, and earned media metrics; translate data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Leverage market analytics and research to continuouslyoptimizecontent relevance and campaign ROI
  • Manage US PR and social media budgets with rigor and efficiency, regularly assessing tools and workflow for cost and process improvements
  • Verify Kiehlsis keepingpace with competitors digital and communications strategies and capitalizing on emerging technologies and platforms

People Leadership

  • Manage mid-sized team of 3 direct reports

Required Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • 10+ years of combined experience in public relations, brand partnerships, social media marketing, or integrated communications (consumer products, media, agency, or corporate environment)
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred
  • Demonstrated success managing PR and social media campaigns for consumer-facing brands, ideally within the beauty or luxury sector
  • Strong knowledge of the PR and influencer ecosystem relevant to the beauty industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills — this individual will serve as the brands voice to the outside world
  • Proven ability to negotiate and close brand partnership agreements aligned with business goals
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest) and emerging channels
  • Creative thinker with sharp attention to detail and excellent project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media analytics and reporting tools

Additional Benefits Information As Follows

Salary Range: $138,500 - $200,800 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
