We are looking for an experienced Settlement Officer to support and strengthen back-office financial operations. In this role, you will work closely with the Reconciliation and Back Office leadership to build, document, and improve reconciliation processes across various financial flows, ensuring accuracy, control, and compliance in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
Support the setup, documentation, and continuous improvement of reconciliation processes, including Nostro accounts, wallet prefunding, settlements, and balance monitoring
Perform and oversee reconciliation of GL accounts, merchant settlements, and payment partner transactions
Monitor outstanding items, investigate discrepancies (floats), and ensure timely resolution within defined aging periods
Ensure proper implementation of maker-checker controls, segregation of duties, and adherence to delegated authority
Prepare and submit accurate reports within agreed timelines
Participate in settlements processes (maker role) to ensure full understanding of transaction flows
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify process gaps and improvement opportunities
Maintain organized documentation and ensure audit readiness and compliance with record retention policies
Support regulatory compliance (SEC, BSP, AMLC), including coordination of CTR/STR reporting
Participate in system enhancements, UAT/UVT, and cross-functional initiatives
Requirements and expectations
Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Banking & Finance, or related field
5+ years of experience in reconciliation, settlements, or back-office operations within a financial institution
Strong knowledge of GL reconciliation, merchant and payment settlements
Experience working with high-volume transactions under tight deadlines
Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and internal controls
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Good communication and stakeholder management skills
High attention to detail, structured approach, and process improvement mindset
Experience in startup environments and project management skills are an advantage
