Job Description – Procurement Buyer

Contract Duration: 1 Year

Responsibilities

Procurement Operations

  • Execute procurement transaction processes.
  • Manage procurement of materials, goods, services, and supplies through procurement and inventory management systems (e.g., Maximo, Ariba, SAP TC1, or other ERP systems).
  • Execute, monitor, and ensure timely processing of tactical procurement demands for capital investment projects, stock replenishment, and planned spend across designated countries/locations.
  • Follow company procurement policies and guidelines.
  • Utilize baseline and subcategory analysis to negotiate and develop supplier contracts aligned with established global and regional sourcing strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Category organization for procurement activities exceeding established approval limits.
  • Implement continuous improvements in procurement transaction processes.
  • Perform procurement support activities related to compliance, planning, and execution of assigned processes.
  • Negotiate medium-complexity tactical purchasing activities in compliance with procurement policies.
  • Promote synergies across categories (e.g., equipment, packaging) to maximize negotiation leverage.
  • Consolidate demand to achieve economies of scale and reduce the supplier base.
  • Ensure supplier agreements are established with reputable and financially stable suppliers in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare regional price lists, validate item codes and pricing, and implement automated catalogs with COE support.
  • Identify and report cost-saving opportunities during procurement activities.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with applicable local laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Prepare, maintain, monitor, and process procurement-related documentation, including supplier records and legally required documents.

Sourcing Strategy

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities aligned with category strategies to deliver the best value.
  • Collaborate with subcategory teams to ensure effective implementation of sourcing strategies while maintaining compliance with procurement policies.
  • Identify opportunities to convert spot buying into long-term strategic sourcing arrangements.
  • Perform tactical sourcing activities for low- to medium-complexity agreements following established procedures and strategic sourcing plans.
  • Build collaborative relationships with category leaders, suppliers, and stakeholders to implement Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)-based sourcing solutions.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Deliver excellent service to internal stakeholders and business units.
  • Resolve local buying issues by coordinating with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely resolution.

Data Analysis, Research & Reporting

  • Analyze procurement data and prepare consolidated reports on buying activities.
  • Provide timely feedback to supervisors regarding issues, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct research and analysis using internal and external data sources, considering business requirements, supplier markets, cost drivers, international market dynamics, geopolitical risks, and import/export regulations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on local cross-functional project teams when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Maintenance Procurement, Engineering, or related functions.
  • Good knowledge of process equipment and industrial construction.
  • Good understanding of contract management.
  • Solid knowledge of safety and food safety standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish standardized procurement processes.
  • Understanding of the business environment and procurement requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and build trust with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and change management capabilities.
  • Proven experience working with suppliers to develop mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of key legal concepts related to purchasing contracts for capital goods and services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPSM certification or equivalent purchasing qualification (or currently pursuing certification).
  • Experience with PDP or FEL project methodologies.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)-based sourcing methodologies.
  • Experience in competitive bidding and contract negotiation.
