Planning Director

Job Summary: A Planning Director ensures that the agencys output adds value to the set of businesses he looks after. He does this by directly supervising the work of more junior planners, identifying the necessary tools and knowledge they need to get the job done, and being the team’s cultural compass. He ensures that the set of accounts under his supervision receives the necessary support by deploying Planning resources efficiently.

Effectiveness of the work

  • Work delivers commercial value to the client’s business across all business units
  • Impact of the work gets recognized within client organizations and the marketing industry

Client Relationships

  • Clients regards the agency well and values their POV on the business
  • Senior clients choose to seek his counsel for creative solutions to their business problems over their other partners
  • Clients shares timely information about their business with the Planning director because they know it will be put to good use

Business Profitability

  • Time spent by Planners generates ample returns to the agency
  • Minimize overburn of Planning resource across business units

Skills

  • Proficiency of advanced marketing concepts
  • Can diagnose a brand’s business problems with precision
  • Provide counsel on strategic brand priorities to C-Level clients
  • Can drive a team to create more effective work and demonstrate its results
  • Devise and deploy research to unearth fresh truths or to investigate specific areas, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Present POVs in a persuasive, compelling and inspiring manner
  • Ability to partner with Creative, Business, Mapping, and Technology leads to deliver an excellent product
  • Leads Planners to be effective collaborators, especially with Mapping team
  • Mastery of MWG’s proprietary tools (Truth 2 Meaning, 5Cs, Truth Central)
  • Can easily spot an idea and nurture it to its full potential

Goals And Expectations

  • Develop campaign strategy and commplan for assigned brands based on client brief.
  • Work alongside creative and accounts team to meet client campaign requirements.
  • Brief and provide input for the creatives to inform and guide the creative development.
  • Provide guidance to creative to optimize creative materials for ad pretesting.
  • Input into research plan and design and process research findings for campaign testing.
  • Process and analyze brand data and research to inform creative briefs.
  • Develop strategy and ways in for creative to leap from.
  • Present, sell and give strategic recommendation to senior clients as it relates to the campaign briefs.
  • Work with the data analytics team and mapping team to inform strategy
