Lead our dynamic Tauranga Roofing team to deliver customer excellence, operational efficiency, and profitable growth in one of New Zealands leading steel solutions providers. This senior role reports to the General Manager, Roll Forming, and suits an experienced leader or a motivated supervisor ready to step up with a passion for steel processing and team collaboration. Full-time, permanent opportunity in a supportive, One Company culture.

As the Area Manager, youll provide strategic leadership to our Tauranga Roofing business, coordinating production, logistics, customer service and working with the sales team to facilitate growth while embedding a collaborative approach across the wider Steel & Tube network. Youll champion operational best practices, from Lean manufacturing and TOC principles to precise inventory management and performance metrics, ensuring high-quality processed products at optimal costs. Fostering a proactive environment, youll set clear expectations, wrap around your team for support, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, productivity, and health & safety, ultimately boosting profit, employee engagement, and customer retention.

In this role, youll dive deeper into hands-on operations: collaborating with national teams to implement fit-for-purpose processes, coaching staff on best-practice models for materials handling and production, and monitoring key metrics like on-time dispatch, cycle efficiency, and H&S compliance. Youll also partner with sales and product managers to develop growth strategies, innovate custom solutions for clients in infrastructure and construction, and deliver insightful monthly reports to guide business decisions, all while embodying our core values of United, Open, Trusted, Integrity, and Accountable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance reviews to hit financial, safety, and growth targets
• Embed operational excellence and continuous improvement programs aligned with ISO standards
• Build strong internal and external relationships to enhance sales, supplier partnerships, and customer service
• Coach teams on Lean/TOC tools, productivity metrics, and H&S best practices for sustainable results
• Drive One Company collaboration to innovate products and expand market share
  
  

About You

• 5+ years in management, ideally in steel processing or manufacturing operations
• Proven leader who sets expectations, supports teams, and fosters cohesion and proactivity
• Strong business acumen with experience in change programs, customer needs, and cost control
• Technical knowledge in production, supply chain, and H&S; tertiary quals desirable
• Excellent communicator who translates complex ideas simply, with a can-do drive for results
