Responsible for the supervision and training of crews for all required tasks included in highway and bridge construction.
Supervise and perform related tasks preparing the surface, setting forms, placing wet concrete, and properly finishing the concrete as required by the project.
Operating a variety of hand and power tools
May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, prepare subgrade, fine grade, set and strip formwork, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. Assist other craft workers with various other tasks as required.
Maintaining compliance with company policies and accurately reports daily activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Properly use tools needed to finish wet cement, tools may include shovel,float, bull float, broom, rake, screed, etc.
Fine grade fill to grades given by foreman.
Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Excavate and fills trenches and ditches.
Assist in moving, placing, striping various formwork.
Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Material handling and storage.
Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
Accurately record and report daily activities including crew hours, daily production, materials used and project issues.
Position is outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITIES
Position requires employee to frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, handle objects, reach outward, and reach above head and shoulders, climb, descend, squat, kneel, bend, and occasionally lift carry/push/pull/move/drag on flat ground or steep slopes up to 75 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is outdoors. Working conditions range from frigid to hot temperatures, high winds, flying dust, slipping hazards and conditions and frequently exposed to loud noise from heavy equipment and machinery.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy objects (75+ pounds), walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
