You’ll ensure vessels are maintained safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively by providing technical support for planned maintenance, corrective repairs, dry-docking, and compliance with class and insurance requirements. By controlling maintenance costs and supporting operational readiness, you’ll help keep 2 GO’s fleet reliable, safe, and fully mission-capable .

What you'll do

• Prepares docking/repair specifications and corresponding budgets in coordination with the Electrical Superintendents for management approval.
• Responsible for planning, supervision, and follow-up of dry-docking and repairs of all assigned vessels
• Responsible in sending specifications to various chosen yards in coordination with Technical Manager for quotation.
• Supervise all orders for supplies, such as anodes and required spare parts are placed in due time in order not to delay their repairs or prolong the docking time.
• Plan Class Surveys in advance with a representative from the vessels Class Society.
• Evaluate existing contractors and companies for cost effectiveness and performance by regularly checking the work carried out as required by the company’s policy.
• To physically check and evaluate companies premises with the view to keep the accreditation of preferred companies at the highest possible standard and in the line with the company’s policy.
• To seek approval from Technical Manager all major deviations from the originally approved specification to the budget.
• To evaluate shipyard invoices for approval by the Technical Manager and Ship Management Division, Technical Services Shipping Head.
• To prepare docking report after completion of docking
• To conduct research and development studies on parts, materials and other items to improve maintenance cost.
• Responsible for vessels’ overall performance and maintenance through vessels’ report and Class survey reports, including verification by conducting regular technical inspection on board.
• Evaluate cost development against budgets and initiate necessary corrective actions and improvements.
• Monitor speed performance/fuel consumption.
• Monitor status of Class – and statutory certificates
• Prepares yearly action plans and corresponding budgets that includes:
• Evaluation of repair and reconditioning of components versus purchase of new parts
• Evaluation of suggesting improvements related to machinery, cargo handling equipment, outfitting, etc.
• Monitor the performance of the Safety Management System (SMS) and provide feed-back to DPA/SQT Head
• Support Master and Chief Engineer with maritime/technical information and advice in emergency situations.
• Assist in coordinating and monitoring reports and analysis of non-conformities, accidents/near accidents and hazardous occurrences including actions to avoid recurrence.
• Assist in reviewing and initiating improvements of safe working procedures.
• Member of the company’s Emergency Response Team in relation to assigned vessels.
• Evaluate and assist in selection of vessel engineers
• Coordinate with Crewing Manager with regard to operational experience for recruiting purposes and preparation of training programs for ship officers and crew.
• Monitoring of Crew Performance Appraisal of officers and crew through the Master’s evaluation reports and own visits on board.
• Monitoring of Crew Record of Hours of Rest.
• Assist in systematic .
• Keep updated on technical matters and development in general.
• Decide on matters relating to engine operations.
• Approve plans and specifications for dry-docking repairs and modifications of vessel structures.
• Recommend transfer and promotion of deck and engine personnel.
