Role Summary

As a Tax Compliance Specialist III (Subject Matter Expert), you will serve as the trusted authority for complex client tax matters within Operations. You will translate tax regulations into practical operational standards, provide expert guidance on challenging cases, strengthen audit readiness, and help shape future tax services, processes, and technology solutions.

This role combines deep tax expertise, advisory capability, governance oversight, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement to ensure compliant, consistent, and scalable delivery of client tax services across supported jurisdictions.

About The Team

Client Tax Services (CTS) is a specialized team responsible for supporting ING's global client tax obligations, including tax form validation, FATCA and CRS classification, and tax documentation support. The team partners closely with Wholesale Banking, Retail Banking, Compliance, KYC, and operations teams to maintain regulatory compliance, improve data quality, and enhance client servicing.

You'll join a team of highly skilled tax professionals, operations experts, and change specialists who are committed to knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills

We're looking for professionals who can combine technical expertise with strong business partnership skills. You may be a strong fit if you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accountancy, Banking, Business, Taxation, Law, or a related field.
• Significant banking operations, compliance, or client tax experience.
• Advanced knowledge of FATCA, CRS, U.S. Withholding Tax, W-8/W-9 documentation, and tax form validation.
• Experience interpreting regulations and translating requirements into operational procedures, controls, and working instructions.
• Strong analytical thinking, professional judgement, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience supporting audits, assurance reviews, controls, or regulatory reporting activities.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with operations, compliance, technology, and change stakeholders.
• Experience delivering training, coaching colleagues, and building specialist knowledge within teams.
• Interest in process improvement, transformation initiatives, automation, and AI-assisted solutions.
