Job Title: Strategic Operations & Growth Manager (International Freight Forwarding & Supply Chain)

Job Type: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a General Manager who will work in an Australian-based international freight forwarding and logistics company entering an exciting phase of growth and expansion.

This role presents a unique opportunity to become a key operational leader within the business, working directly alongside the Founder to help establish and grow a dedicated offshore operations hub that will become a critical component of the company's long-term structure.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily international freight forwarding operations.
  • Coordinate FCL, LCL, and air freight shipments.
  • Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, transport providers, and customs brokers.
  • Monitor shipment progress and ensure operational milestones are met.
  • Manage escalations and operational issues proactively.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer communication and service delivery.

Customer Service & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Provide shipment updates, logistics advice, and practical solutions.
  • Deliver a proactive, responsive, and customer-focused experience.
  • Support long-term client retention and account growth.
  • Drive service standards focused on visibility, communication, and reliability.

Internal Sales & Commercial Support

  • Prepare quotations and pricing proposals.
  • Support sales activities, customer follow-ups, and solution development.
  • Assist with warm leads and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Founder to convert opportunities into long-term customer partnerships.
  • Contribute to commercial decision-making and business growth initiatives.

Systems, SOPs & Process Improvement

  • Develop and refine operational systems, workflows, and procedures.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Implement best practices drawn from industry experience.
  • Support the development of a modern, technology-enabled freight forwarding operation.

Leadership & Business Growth

  • Lead the establishment and growth of the offshore operations function.
  • Help recruit, train, and mentor future team members.
  • Develop operational standards, accountability frameworks, and performance measures.
  • Serve as a trusted operational partner to the Founder.
  • Contribute to the long-term scalability and strategic direction of the business.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience within international freight forwarding and logistics.
  • Solid understanding of freight operations, including FCL, LCL, and air freight.
  • Exposure to Australian freight forwarding, customs, and quarantine compliance processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience preparing freight quotations and supporting commercial discussions.
  • Strong operational planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound business decisions.
  • Proven ability to improve systems, workflows, and operational processes.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience managing or leading logistics operations teams.
  • Experience establishing offshore or remote operational teams.
  • Exposure to business process improvement and operational scaling projects.
  • Experience within customer-centric logistics or supply chain environments.
  • Familiarity with freight management systems and digital operational tools.
