Description – Job Overview

Senior Test Engineer in the Test Management team is responsible for translating verification strategy (outline test methods, test facilities and align to product requirements) to test plans as well as reporting out on test readiness, test results and product technical risks of new complex projects.

As part of the Dyson Test Operations Team, you will play an integral part in determining how, when and where we verify new technologies and products to ensure designs are robust to real world conditions and achieve performance and satisfaction targets.

Accountabilities

  • You will lead medium to high complexity product development projects in terms of performance and robustness verification testing, with deep knowledge of both in-house and internationally recognised test standards.
  • You will liaise with Tech Dev, Design, Systems &Verification Engineering teams to rationalize the verification strategy for new products and review new and existing methods to assess and improve our designs and technologies.
  • You will work with test engineers and technicians in UK and South-East Asian test facilities, primarily within Philippines Test Operations team to prioritise and plan development and execution of performance and robustness test method, equipment and processes.
  • You will be responsible for highly accurate forecast of the tactical demand for every product verification strategy.
  • You will be responsible for reporting of test status, problem intercepted in tests and insights summaries from tests are highly accurate and insightful.
  • Tou will be responsible for ensuring that Failure Triages are properly coordinated and driving the closure on Problem Reports
  • You will review and align requirements for product development working with design and technology development teams.
  • You will align with systems & verification engineers on verification plan and reporting risks.
  • You will review each of test request, align with testing requirements for product development and report out testing readiness and advice mitigation plan on the risks associated with the testing plan in term of test capacity and capability.
  • You will be the point contact for coordinating and planning the Test plan execution with the Lab Management team.
  • You will lead or drive continuous improvement activity to optimize test operations in terms of time, cost and quality.
  • Carry out other related tasks as authorized in addition to the above responsibilities.

Skills/Experience Required

  • You should have a degree in Industrial, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • You should have a sound understanding of broad test engineering concepts typically analyses solutions using established approaches and contributes to process improvements.
  • Knowledge of system and functional system requirements, and how to do requirements flow down is an advantage.
  • Possess knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, theories, concepts and develops competence by applying these to structured assignments and/or problem solving. Able also to challenge & develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously improve technology /design/product quality.
  • You have 5 or more years’ experience with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), statistical and reliability analyses. Possessing the ability to utilize established statistical methods to analyse / qualify test data and direct investigations into unexpected deviations from product performance.
  • You worked in verification and testing environment. Experience in conducting testing, test method development and you had exposure to test rigs or process and test automation.
  • You have 5 or more years’ experience in leading projects and have excellent organisational skills: you can plan ahead, to prioritise tasks and to co-ordinate the work with others
  • Your communication and presentation skills are exceptional: you are able to translate and communicate complex technical information (example: lead technical reviews presentations) to project & research teams, managers and heads of departments as required.
  • Finally, yet importantly, you also should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and enjoy greatly the idea of solving problems.
  • You are expected to model a high sense of responsibility and professionalism.
  • You are expected to deliver your task with a high degree of quality, timeliness, efficiency and proficiency.
