Location: Remote (Philippines). This role can be performed anywhere in the Philippines.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Indirect Tax Analyst to join our Tax team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in U.S. sales and use tax, in-depth experience with the Avalara tax engine, and preferably some knowledge of VAT compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with indirect tax regulations and supporting operational tax initiatives.
This position reports directly to the Tax Manager and will work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and IT teams to ensure accurate tax compliance and reporting.
What You Will Do
Manage and review U.S. sales and use tax compliance processes, including return reconciliations.
Maintain and optimize Avalara tax engine settings, mapping, and data integrity across platforms.
Monitor state and local tax law changes and assess potential impact on the business
Perform tax research and provide guidance to internal teams on indirect tax issues.
Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from taxing authorities.
Support month-end and year-end indirect tax reconciliations and reporting.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve tax determination and documentation processes.
Contribute to special projects and initiatives within the tax function, including system upgrades, process automation, and international tax expansion (including VAT).
Skills We’re Excited About
Minimum 5-10+ years of experience in indirect tax, with a strong focus on U.S. sales and use tax.
Extensive hands-on experience with Avalara (AvaTax) is required.
Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of NetSuite and Zuora
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other tax technology tools.
Bonus Points For
Experience with VAT compliance and regulations is a strong plus.
Prior experience in a corporate tax department or a public accounting firm.
