Project Accountant - Construction (MEP / HVAC Focus)

Location: Remote (Philippines)

Compensation: $1,700 - $2,200 USD/month DOE

Schedule: Full-time, US hours overlap preferred

About The Role

We are seeking experienced Project Accountants with a background in construction, specifically MEP or HVAC projects, to support a growing portfolio of active jobs.

This role is critical to ensuring accurate job costing, timely billing, and financial visibility across projects. You will work closely with project managers and operations teams to manage the full lifecycle of project accounting, from setup through closeout.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Accounting & Financial Oversight

• Manage accounting functions for assigned construction projects from initiation through closeout
• Maintain accurate job cost tracking, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
• Monitor project budgets and identify cost variances
  
  

Billing & Revenue Management

• Prepare and manage owner billings and progress invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Process billing through systems such as Procore or similar platforms
• Track contract values, change orders, and billing status
  
  

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

• Process vendor invoices and subcontractor payments
• Ensure proper coding and allocation of costs to projects
• Maintain accurate records of all project-related financial transactions
  
  

Compliance & Documentation

• Track and manage project compliance documentation (lien waivers, insurance, etc.)
• Ensure all financial processes align with internal controls and regulatory standards
  
  

Reporting & Collaboration

• Generate project-level financial reports including:
• Job cost reports
• Accounts receivable
• Contract status reports
• Partner with project managers to provide financial insights and updates
• Support month-end close and reconciliations related to project accounts
  

Qualifications

Required

• 2-5+ years of experience in project accounting within construction
• Exposure to MEP, HVAC, or similar construction environments strongly preferred
• Experience with job costing and project-based accounting
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
• Strong understanding of billing cycles, change orders, and cost tracking
  
  

Preferred

• Experience with Procore or similar construction/project management platforms
• Familiarity with US-based construction accounting practices
