Description

SFI is responsible for providing full lifecycle software development and DevOps support for a federal agency. Spatial Front, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Full Stack Application Developer to join our team supporting a federal government agency in Suitland, MD.

As a key member of the development team, the Application Developer will work closely with customers and technical staff to support a broad range of software development activities, including requirements gathering and analysis, technical architecture and detailed design, implementation, testing, integration, and deployment for both new and existing systems.

Must travel to Suitland, MD, for equipment pick-up.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and integrate custom Java-based backend applications and solutions
• Design and develop microservices-based applications in a cloud environment
• Interface with senior-level customer management and subject matter experts (SMEs)
• Analyze and resolve complex design, implementation, and performance issues
• Collaborate with the Information Security organization to ensure solutions meet all applicable security and compliance requirements
• Support the full software development lifecycle, from requirements definition and specifications through deployment and production delivery
• Consult with project teams and end users to gather new requirements and identify opportunities for system and process improvements
• Assist in identifying and evaluating new and emerging technologies, COTS products, and development and testing tools
  
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or substitute 10 years of related experience.
• 10+ years of recent hands-on Java development experience, including three years of Java Open-Source frameworks and technologies.
• Experience in developing innovative Java-centric, scalable, secure enterprise custom applications
• Experience developing microservice applications and APIs
• Experience with JavaEE and Java Frameworks (Spring Frameworks, Hibernate…)
• Experience with web applications, SOA, web services (SOAP or RESTful) development, and deployment
• Experience with large-scale relational database design and development using Oracle or PostgreSQL
• Experience with PL/SQL
• Experience in applying Agile/Scrum methodology
• Experience leading or contributing to multiple concurrent software development projects
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with development teams and customers
  
  
  

• Experience with AWS services and technologies
• Experience with Oracle Spatial
• Experience with Python
• Experience with REACT
• Experience with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines
• Java certifications: Certified Professional Java EE Web Component Developer, Certified Professional Java EE Developer, Application Developer, Certified Master Java SE Developer.
• AWS certifications: Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect.

• The salary for this position is $95,000 - $135,000 annually
