The Data Analyst is responsible for creating Power BI solutions, answering business questions through data analysis (ad-hoc and scheduled), identifying data issues using systematic investigation approaches, and collaborating with engineering roles to find root causes and implement fixes. This role also supports users across legacy systems whilst guiding migration to appropriate modern tooling.
Skills Required
2+ years business intelligence or data analysis experience across modern and legacy platforms
Strong Power BI skills including dashboard creation, data visualisation, and troubleshooting
SQL proficiency for data extraction and analysis across both Fabric and SQL Server environments
Systematic problem-solving using "is/is not" methodology for data investigation
Legacy system knowledge including Excel/VBA, SSRS reports, and cube analysis
Business communication skills for explaining technical issues and guiding tool selection decisions
Migration support experience helping users transition from legacy to modern analytics tools
Nice To Have
Microsoft Fabric or Power BI certifications (PL-300, DP-600)
Experience with Python, R, or other analytical programming languages
Background in finance, operations, or commercial analysis
Experience training business users on analytics tools
Knowledge of statistical analysis and data science techniques
Familiarity with Jupyter notebooks and Microsoft Fabric notebooks
What will you do?
BAU Reporting & Ad-Hoc Analysis
Handle report enhancement requests including dashboard modifications, new filter implementations, and performance optimisation
Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions across all available data platforms
Maintain existing reporting infrastructure including Excel, SSRS, and PowerBI reports (both legacy and ad-hoc)
Support end-of-month finance data import/export processes and EDW/IDW warehouse operations
Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities
Support users transitioning from legacy tools toward appropriate Fabric self-service solutions
Data Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
Investigate data quality issues using systematic "is/is not" problem-solving approach
Collaborate with Data Engineers and Platform Engineers to identify root causes of data issues
Validate data accuracy and completeness across both Fabric and legacy reporting systems
Perform detailed analysis on data discrepancies and anomalies across multiple platforms
Support business users in understanding data definitions, limitations, and appropriate tool selection
Guide users from legacy systems (Excel/VBA, SSRS, cubes) toward appropriate Fabric self-service solutions
Self-Service Enablement & Vendor Coordination
Enable business users to access data independently through appropriate self-service tooling
Provide hands-on training and support for Power BI whilst helping users transition from legacy tools
Support business requirements gathering for vendor-built data products and ensure alignment with user needs
Guide tool selection decisions, helping users choose between Excel, Power BI, and other Fabric capabilities
Create user-friendly documentation and training materials for both legacy and modern tools
Coordinate with external vendors during build phases to ensure business user requirements are met
Insights & Business Support
Analyse business performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities
Create analytical solutions to support strategic business initiatives
Develop predictive models and forecasting solutions where appropriate
Present findings and recommendations to business stakeholders
Support business cases with quantitative analysis and data-driven insights
