Were seeking a Creative Director to own the entire pre-production process for one of our YouTube channels. You will lead story vision, narrative clarity, research alignment, idea development, and the creation of exceptional scripts, outlines, and storyboards that serve as strong, production-ready blueprints.
This role is part of a co-director structure: you will work closely with the Production Creative Director, who oversees animation, editing, and post-production. Together, youll ensure every episode starts with a powerful concept and ends as a polished, high-performing final product.
Your mission is to turn complex ideas into clear, entertaining, and compelling stories, before production begins.
About The Role
Own the creative vision and narrative clarity for all content developed before production begins.
Lead story development, ideation, and concept creation, transforming complex ideas into clear, entertaining, and compelling stories.
Create strong, production-ready blueprints via exceptional scripts, outlines, and storyboards.
Ensure creative alignment by working closely with the Production Creative Director (who handles post-production) to guarantee continuity and execution feasibility.
What Youll Do
Lead ideation, story development, and concept creation for episodes and long-form content.
Oversee research-to-script pipelines ensuring accuracy, clarity, and audience relevance.
Review and refine all scripts, outlines, and storyboards before they enter animation.
Collaborate closely with the production Creative Director to ensure feasibility and continuity.
Train and guide writers in tone, humor, pacing, and narrative structure.
Develop documentation for storytelling frameworks, writing guidelines, and narrative style.
Run creative brainstorms, pitch sessions, and weekly writers room rituals.
Ensure content ideas are aligned with channel strategy, performance insights, and audience feedback.
Regularly analyze top-performing content across YouTube to inform new formats and improvements.
About You
Strong background in writing, story direction, creative development, or narrative strategy.
Deep understanding of storytelling for YouTube, TikTok, animation, or digital-first content.
Excellent creative instincts, script-editing ability, and storytelling structure mastery.
You excel at synthesizing research and turning it into engaging, clear narratives.
Highly collaborative, organized, and comfortable running a writers room.
Passionate about geopolitics, culture, or history (preferred but not mandatory).
You love pre-production, ideation, and story clarity more than production pipeline execution.
