About The Role
Riverstone is an Australian business group working in logistics, infrastructure and industrial equipment across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. You'll own the day-to-day accounting and Australian tax compliance for our group of companies and trusts, run our books in Xero, and build a small finance team that keeps invoicing and accounts clean, fast and accurate. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows the Australian system inside out and is happy to roll up their sleeves.
Key responsibilities
Manage the full accounting cycle in Xero for multiple Australian entities: bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll journals and month-end close
Prepare and lodge (or prepare for lodgement by our registered tax agent) BAS, IAS, GST and PAYG obligations on time
Prepare year-end financials and tax workpapers for companies and trusts, including trust distribution calculations and resolutions
Keep the group structure compliant - inter-entity loans, Division 7A considerations and related-party transactions
Build, train and lead a small finance team, setting up clear processes for invoicing, collections and supplier payments
Streamline and automate invoicing and account management, working with our logistics and operations systems
Produce clear monthly management reports, cash flow forecasts and aged debtor/creditor reports for leadership
Liaise with our Australian external accountant, auditors, banks and the ATO as needed
Pitch in across the business when the team needs a hand - admin, operations support or customer queries

About You
Xero mastery - you'll be asked to demonstrate it in a practical test during interview (Xero Advisor certification is a plus)
Strong knowledge of the Australian tax system - GST, BAS, PAYG, income tax and company tax
Deep understanding of Australian company and trust structures, especially discretionary (family) trusts, unit trusts and corporate trustees
Proven ability to build and work with a finance team to streamline invoicing and the management of accounts
Excellent spoken and written English and strong interpersonal skills - you'll deal directly with Australian management, clients and suppliers
A can-do attitude - willing to pitch in and help the team with other roles when required
A degree in Accounting, Finance or similar; CPA (PH) or experience in an Australian accounting practice is highly regarded
At least 3-5 years' experience working on Australian clients' books and tax
