Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accountant to support our accounting and financial reporting team. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, job costing, and general accounting while ensuring the accuracy of financial records, billing, and project-related transactions. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced remote environment.


Key Responsibilities Construction Billing

  • Prepare and compile construction billing packages and supporting documentation.
  • Process project billings and billback requests.
  • Track subcontractor compliance, including W-9s, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), lien waivers, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain job costing records and assist with budget tracking and contract administration.
  • Organize and maintain audit-ready accounting records and project documentation.

Accounting Support

  • Process vendor and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accurate job and cost coding.
  • Assist with weekly check runs and payment processing.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, amortization, and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable and other internal departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify discrepancies and communicate with internal teams to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Escalate accounting concerns when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of general accounting experience.
  • Experience in construction accounting and job costing.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Filters, Sorting, and Reconciliations).
  • Experience with Yardi is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in real estate, multifamily, or property accounting is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines in a remote environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to maintain organized financial records and documentation.
