Job Description

Overall Role Purpose

Responsible for all aspects of stations operations including, but not limited to freight forwarding operations, customer service, customs clearance, and billings. Position is held accountable for the profitability of the logistics operations.

Key Activities


  • Oversees transactional, customs and handling activities performed in country
  • Sets, communicates and follows KPIs to ensure constant improvement of Operations
  • Ensures effective customer service through a process-oriented approach that delivers reliable and consistent service
  • Ensures realization of budgetary performance by setting and monitoring clear objectives
  • Ensures operations are performed consistently with customer requirements and takes corrective actions in case of deviations from requirements
  • Ensures compliance with group business strategy and local business environment
  • Develops a high-performance service culture within the Export, Import, Customs and Handling departments
  • Decides upon all administrative matters at station (e.g. office supplies) up to a certain threshold
  • Leads negotiations with external suppliers on all administrative topics
  • Accompanies field sales or key account sales in visits to important clients or prospective clients (where “Station Manager” title may be beneficial to closing the deal)


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the freight forwarding industry is required
  • Excellent knowledge of freight forwarding operations and process across ocean and air freight, and road and rail transportation and brokerage is desirable including but not limited to shipping, full import and export documentation.
  • Excellent CargoWise One application functionality knowledge
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to include driving KPIs, employee engagement / team building.
  • Strong Organizational skills – Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize, and execute on assigned deliverables
  • Knows how to achieve commercial drive in the work place and has a strong sense of business acumen.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentations)
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
