Job Description
Your New Role
As Senior Accountant – Corporate Services you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial integrity of Development Victoria. Leading treasury, financial accounting, statutory reporting and compliance activities, this role ensures all obligations are met in line with legislative requirements, internal policies and assurance frameworks.
You’ll provide trusted oversight of financial governance, champion strong controls and best practice, and lead the Corporate Accounting function to deliver high‑quality outcomes across the organisation.
Core Accountabilities
Provide financial leadership across the organisation, with a strong focus on treasury, debt management, regulatory compliance and financial capability uplift, while managing key relationships with Treasury Corporation Victoria, Westpac and audit stakeholders.
Play a key role in enterprise finance leadership, driving continuous improvement initiatives, strengthening internal controls, supporting risk management activities and contributing to professional capability development.
Lead core corporate accounting functions, including general ledger integrity, month‑end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, journal management and documentation of efficient financial procedures.
Manage day‑to‑day debt and treasury operations, payroll and treasury‑related GL accounts, and ensure timely, accurate reporting and insights for stakeholders.
Support statutory and internal audit processes, including preparation of annual financial statements, liaison with VAGO and internal auditors, and timely resolution of audit findings.
Ensure compliance with direct and indirect tax obligations (including land tax, stamp duty and payroll tax), manage related policies, and coordinate dispute resolution where required.
Collaborate with data analytics, transactional services, payroll, risk and assurance teams to maintain data integrity, segregation of duties, effective controls and improved financial outcomes, including payment times and working capital reporting.
Contribute to key financial deliverables such as the Corporate Plan, equity investment accounting, policy development and the leadership and development of direct reports.
About You
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent)
CA/CPA membership
3+ years’ experience in finance, accounting or audit and assurance.
Knowledge of Victorian Government financial reporting requirements (desirable).
Demonstrated finance systems analysis experience and finance systems implementation experience (desirable).
Strong knowledge and application of accounting and other regulatory financial policies.
Experience in managing teams involved with working capital transactional responsibilities.
