Job Description

  • Lead and scale prospect development of a globally recognised charity
  • Supporting major and principal giving
  • Full-time, Hybrid, Melbourne or Sydney

World Vision Australia is an organisation that empowers everyday Australians to create meaningful change, dedicated to helping vulnerable children and adults lead full lives. As Australia’s largest international non-government organisation, it works with vulnerable communities at the grassroots level, empowering them with knowledge, skills and resources to work their way out of poverty.

The role

The Prospect Development Manager is a critical leadership role at the centre of World Vision Australia’s Private Funding growth. Responsible for building and leading a best practice prospect development function, this role turns insight into action—identifying high value opportunities, strengthening donor pipelines and equipping fundraisers with the intelligence they need to secure transformational partnerships. Blending strategy with hands on delivery, you will directly influence major and principal giving outcomes and help unlock long term impact for children and communities.

Why You’ll Love This Opportunity

Lead a high‑impact function – Shape and elevate a best‑practice prospect development capability that directly influences major and principal giving outcomes.

Strategic influence with hands‑on impact – Work closely with Private Funding leadership and fundraisers, with your insights driving real decisions and long‑term funding growth.

Purpose at scale – Your work enables sustainable funding that helps create lasting change for children and communities, within a values‑led organisation committed to impact and integrity.

About YOU

You will be a driven, analytical and collaborative professional who thrives on delivering high‑quality research, insights and pipeline development to drive revenue growth. You bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in qualitative prospect research within a NFP or university
  • Strong skills in prospect identification, diagnostic analysis, and the use of public and commercial research tools
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality research profiles, briefings and reports, including wealth indicators and due diligence
  • Knowledge and competence with Microsoft products and CRM software used in fundraising contexts
  • Sound commercial acumen and experience in project management
  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills and experience working collaboratively in team environments
  • Solid understanding of philanthropy, fundraising trends, donor journeys, and opportunities/gaps in the sector
  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience, and knowledge of FIA/APRA standards.

It takes safeguarding responsibilities seriously and is committed to providing a safe environment for children and adults. Stringent recruitment procedures ensure only the most suitable people work directly with children in programs. All successful candidates must undergo pre-employment checks, including a criminal record check. Staff and volunteers receive ongoing supervision, support and training in their work with vulnerable children and their families. World Vision Australia participates in the Inter-Agency Scheme for the Disclosure of Safeguarding-related Misconduct in Recruitment Processes within the Humanitarian and Development Sector.
