The Company Nurse provides occupational health and wellness services to employees and plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive workplace. This includes delivering immediate medical attention in case of injuries or illnesses, implementing health and wellness programs, maintaining compliance with DOLE, DOH, and OSHS requirements, and supporting safety initiatives across the manufacturing facility. The Company Nurse serves as the first point of contact for employees’ health concerns while actively contributing to overall workplace safety and wellness culture.
Key Responsibilities
Medical & Clinical Care
Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries, accidents, or sudden illnesses within the workplace.
Conduct initial health assessments, triage, and treatment of employees and escalate to the company physician or hospital if needed.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with company physician’s instructions.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling medical records and employee health concerns.
Health Monitoring & Regulatory Compliance
Conduct regular health monitoring, such as blood pressure checks and wellness screenings.
Ensure compliance with DOLE, DOH, and OSHS standards, including preparation and submission of required Annual Medical Report (AMR)
Support pre-employment, annual, and special medical examinations of employees.
Monitor and manage medical supplies, first aid kits, and clinic equipment to ensure readiness.
Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness Programs
Assist the Safety Officer in implementing occupational health and safety programs in accordance with DOLE requirements.
Actively participate in the Health & Safety Committee and workplace inspections.
Conduct health education campaigns (e.g., stress management, ergonomics, nutrition, hygiene).
Support company wellness initiatives, including vaccination programs, mental health awareness, and preventive care activities.
Provide recommendations to management regarding workplace improvements to promote employee health and safety.
Emergency Preparedness
Be on standby for emergency response during incidents such as accidents, fires, or disasters.
Coordinate with hospitals, clinics, and emergency responders for referrals and patient transfer when needed.
Ensure employees are trained on basic first aid, CPR, and emergency response protocols.
Administrative Support
Keep accurate and updated employee health records, ensuring compliance with data privacy policies.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on clinic activities and health-related cases.
Assist employees with SSS, PhilHealth, and insurance claims related to health and medical concerns if necessary.
Support in developing policies related to occupational health and return-to-work arrangements.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
License: Registered Nurse (RN), licensed by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Experience: Preferably 1–2 years of experience in occupational health nursing, company nurse practice or clinical/ER setting.
Certifications (an advantage):
Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) for Nurses (DOLE-accredited).
Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid Training.
Occupational First Aid and CPR certifications.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of occupational health standards and DOLE/OSHS regulations.
Clinical skills in first aid, emergency response, and basic treatment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with employees at all levels.
Strong organizational skills in health monitoring, documentation, and compliance reporting.
Ability to remain calm and decisive during emergencies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office for report preparation and documentation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Based in the manufacturing plant clinic, with daily interaction with employees and occasional site rounds.
May require responding to emergencies outside of normal working hours.
Active participation in company drills, safety audits, and government inspections.
