Job Summary

The Building Maintenance and Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the infrastructure, systems, and equipment of a manufacturing plant. The technician ensures that all facilities and utilities function efficiently and safely to support continuous manufacturing operations. For this role, heavy emphasis and preference will be given to candidates with strong specialization in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • HVAC Specialization: Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant HVAC systems, air handling units (AHUs), ventilation fans, and cooling systems to ensure optimal environmental controls for manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of building infrastructure, HVAC units, and plant equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across the facility.
  • Ensure smooth operation of support systems and utilities.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Install and maintain electrical components, wiring, controls, lighting systems, and circuit breakers.
  • Maintain and update maintenance logs, checklists, and service records.
  • Support the installation of new equipment, modifications, or plant expansions.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls promptly to minimize operational downtime.
  • Follow strict safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external HVAC and facility contractors or service providers as needed.
  • Keep tools, work areas, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Perform basic plumbing and masonry repairs as needed.


Qualifications And Requirements

  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a proven track record in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in Mechanical, Electrical, or RAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) technology is highly preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • PACU/CRE NC II (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) or equivalent is highly preferred.
    • EIM NC II Certification (Electrical Installation & Maintenance) or Mechanical Maintenance.
    • Motor Control NC II is a major plus.
  • Basic or advanced knowledge in Motor Controls.
  • Solid understanding of building systems, plumbing, masonry, and general maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices.
  • Physically fit and able to work in various environmental conditions (hot, noisy, confined spaces, etc.).

Preferred Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic/troubleshooting abilities (especially for electrical controls and AC units).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting.


Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant environment with potential exposure to machinery noise, heat, chemicals, and dust.
  • May involve climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, and working at heights or in tight spaces.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) must be worn at all times.
