The Lead, Credit will play a pivotal strategic role in safeguarding the companys assets while optimizing sales growth. As the owner of the credit granting process, this role is responsible for the consistent application of Xometrys credit policies, managing accounts receivable risk, and ensuring compliance. This position demands a comprehensive grasp of credit risk analysis, portfolio management, and cross-functional collaboration with Sales to safely scale our rapid prototype-to-production manufacturing model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Credit Decisioning & Policy Enforcement: Oversee the standardized procedure for evaluating a customers creditworthiness based on their ability and likelihood to repay. This evaluation applies to all new account setups and credit limit increase (CLI) requests.
  • Documentation & Due Diligence: Require specific documentation to assess risk accurately. This includes signed credit applications, active DUNS numbers, and financial documents like 10-Q reports or P&L statements. Ensure thorough due diligence by reviewing payment history, defaults, and overall credit utilization rates.
  • Workflow Management: Manage the CLI intake process by reviewing guided child cases created in Salesforce (SFDC) that are routed to the appropriate internal queue. Ensure these SFDC cases trigger Slack alerts to effectively notify the team.
  • Strategic Enablement: Mitigate elevated risk by utilizing guidelines to grant partial approvals or counter-offers rather than simply rejecting requests. Base these partial approvals on Working Capital, which is strictly defined as Current Assets minus Current Liabilities.
  • Corporate Guarantees: Manage accounts that rely on a parent companys credit standing by securing a legally binding Parental Guarantee Agreement. Verify the signing authority through a Secretarys Certificate.
  • SOX Control & Compliance: Maintain SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance by strictly enforcing Segregation of Duties (SoD), meaning the individual who requests an increase must never be the one who approves it. Maintain a strict audit trail with timestamped Salesforce cases or Slack logs showing the Approval Statement.
  • Portfolio Auditing: Conduct quarterly look-back audits of the top 50 credit holders to ensure their creditworthiness hasnt deteriorated. Prepare monthly exception reports detailing overrides where limits were granted despite low DUNS recommendations or past-due status.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting procedures. Implement best practices to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Audit Facilitation: Facilitate internal and external audit requests. Provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and address any findings or recommendations.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to junior staff members, and communicate effectively with colleagues and management on financial matters.
  • Industry Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Data Analysis: Perform data analysis to identify trends, variances, and anomalies relevant to revenue and financial reporting, and handle special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in credit management, risk analysis, or AR portfolio management, preferably in a manufacturing or B2B technology environment.
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in analyzing public and private financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheets, 10-K/10-Q) to determine liquidity and working capital.
  • Advanced proficiency in leveraging commercial credit reporting tools (e.g., DUNS reporting) for risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing workflows in CRM and ERP systems; Salesforce (SFDC) and Intacct experience is a distinct advantage.
  • Deep understanding of SOX controls, segregation of duties, and audit trail requirements in the Order-to-Cash (O2C) cycle.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with Sales teams and external executive clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure, making data-driven decisions that balance risk mitigation with revenue growth in a fast-paced environment.
