Job Role: Technical Lead

Compensation range: $2,500 AUD - $4,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement / Employer of Record

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so youll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: We are a product-focused technology studio based in Australia that partners with founders and early-stage companies to transform ideas into working digital products. Our team works closely with startups that are building their first versions of a product or looking to regain momentum on existing platforms.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Technical Lead (AI-Native) who can take ownership of end-to-end technical delivery across client projects. This is not purely a traditional coding role. Our studio operates with an AI-native development approach, where engineers focus on thinking, architecture, and specification, while leveraging AI tools to generate much of the implementation.

You will combine technical leadership, hands-on development, AI-driven workflows, and client communication to ensure projects move from concept to launch successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end delivery of client projects from scoping and architecture through development and launch.
• Act as the technical lead and decision-maker, selecting the right stack, tools, and engineering approach for each project.
• Build across the full stack (frontend, backend, and infrastructure), often acting as the primary engineer on early-stage builds.
• Work using an AI-native development workflow, writing detailed specifications and directing AI tools to generate implementation while reviewing and guiding the output.
• Leverage AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude, Copilot, and similar platforms to accelerate delivery and improve engineering productivity.
• Communicate clearly with clients during weekly update calls, translating technical progress into insights that non-technical stakeholders understand.
• Manage delivery timelines and quality, proactively identifying risks and ensuring projects ship successfully.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Comfortable building across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure. Able to quickly learn new tools and frameworks when needed.
• Frontend: React, Next.js, React Native
• Backend: Python, Node.js, TypeScript
• Infrastructure: Cloud services (AWS, GCP, or similar)
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, Copilot) where the focus is on defining requirements, writing specifications, and guiding AI-generated code.
• Ability to make architecture decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and lead projects from concept to production.
• Able to clearly explain technical progress and updates to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable taking responsibility for delivery in fast-moving environments.
