OutsourcedIn is partnering with a Victorian-based construction supply company to hire an experienced Steel Estimator with strong expertise in coil steel, trench mesh, and reinforcing bar (rebar) estimating.

This role focuses on preparing accurate material take-offs, reinforcement schedules, and quotations for steel products used across residential, commercial, and civil construction projects.

The ideal candidate has strong experience interpreting structural drawings and producing detailed estimates aligned with Australian construction standards.

About The Role

You will be responsible for preparing detailed reinforcement steel estimates, calculating material quantities, and supporting pricing and quotation processes for contractors, builders, and construction companies.

This is a technical role requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple RFQs simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Costing

Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for steel coil, trench mesh, and reinforcing bar (rebar)

Estimate reinforcement cages and cut & bend schedules

Interpret structural drawings and reinforcement schedules

Calculate material quantities, fabrication costs, and supply pricing

Tender & Quotation Support

Produce accurate quotes for contractors, builders, and construction companies

Ensure estimates align with project specifications and Australian Standards

Maintain accurate steel pricing and costing databases

Project & Production Coordination

Coordinate with sales, production, and procurement teams

Support quotation turnaround for RFQs and tenders

Ensure pricing aligns with fabrication and supply chain workflows

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of reinforcing steel products and trench mesh systems

Understanding of steel coil processing

Experience preparing rebar cut & bend schedules

Ability to interpret structural and reinforcement drawings

Estimating software / ERP systems experience

Strong Excel skills for cost calculations

Mandatory Requirements

5+ years estimating experience in steel reinforcement or steel supply industry

Proven experience estimating rebar, trench mesh, or steel coil products

Strong ability to interpret structural and reinforcement drawings

Knowledge of Australian steel standards and construction specifications

Highly Regarded

Trade, fabrication, or engineering background

Experience supplying builders, formwork contractors, or civil projects

Knowledge of reinforcement scheduling and bar bending lists

Exposure to construction supply chains or steel manufacturing
