Our Global Technology Services Team

Technology at White & Case plays a key role in enabling our lawyers to practice law around the world.

Our team comprises of three functions: Business Services – who maintain, develop and support our enterprise systems, Operations – who design, build and support our communications and data centre operations, and Support Services – who provide desktop, meeting and training support in the Firm’s offices. Together we support our lawyers with leading edge technology and systems to deliver elite legal and best-in-class client service.

Globally minded, our team covers a range of technical disciplines and business skill sets. This encompasses business analysts, data architects, application developers and engineering staff covering a range of technologies that include virtualization, cloud, networking, storage, collaboration services and security. We deploy the latest technology and hardware within our state-of-the-art offices. Our technical support staff support and train our people in the latest hardware and operating systems, remote working capability and mobile devices. Our Shared Services centers provide Service Desk and Operation Centers that providing support and monitoring of Firm systems 24 x 7.

Working closely with our business services colleagues in support of the Firm’s Finance, HR, Marketing and Knowledge Information Technology systems, Global Technology Services is at the heart of the Firm’s global operations.

Position Summary

Work in a highly dynamic global AI and engineering team and provide expertise in the deployment, scaling, monitoring, and maintenance of Machine Learning (ML) and Large Language Model (LLM) systems for the Firm.

An ML/LLM Ops Engineer bridges the gap between data science, machine learning engineering, and operations. This role ensures that AI models, including generative, retrieval-augmented, and fine-tuned systems are developed, deployed, and managed in a robust, secure, and efficient manner. The engineer must possess strong knowledge in MLOps, DevOps, and data infrastructure, as well as communication and collaboration skills to support a multi-disciplinary global team.

You’ll join an innovative and curious team of technologists dedicated to deploying AI-driven solutions that support the Firm’s varied and critical business needs. You’ll leverage the latest in model-serving, orchestration, and observability technologies, ensuring that all LLM and ML systems are performant, compliant, and continuously improving.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Developers to deploy, monitor, and optimize machine learning and large language models in production environments.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Manage containerized AI workloads using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native orchestration tools.
  • Implement data versioning, lineage, and reproducibility workflows using MLflow, DVC, or similar tools.
  • Build and maintain monitoring systems for model drift, latency, and inference reliability.
  • Design and support scalable infrastructure for fine-tuning and hosting open-source and proprietary LLMs (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral, GPT-J, Falcon, Claude).
  • Implement security and governance best practices for model access, API endpoints, and sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with platform teams to integrate AI services with Firm systems such as SharePoint, Teams, and document automation platforms.
  • Support evaluation of LLM performance, including prompt-engineering validation, RAG pipelines, and synthetic data generation.
  • Create dashboards and metrics for model performance, resource utilization, and SLA compliance.
  • Actively research and recommend emerging tools in AI infrastructure, vector databases, and model serving.
  • Document and enforce processes for model lifecycle management, from training to retirement.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Professional experience working effectively with cross-functional AI, software, and operations teams in a global environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to document architecture and liaise with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex ML infrastructure and model deployment issues.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and on-premises container orchestration.
  • Capable of multitasking and supporting multiple model deployments simultaneously.
  • Keen attention to detail, proactive in problem-solving, and passionate about innovation in AI systems.
  • Willing to work flexible hours across time zones and coordinate with international teams.

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in MLOps, LLM deployment, or DevOps for AI systems.
  • Proficiency with Python, shell scripting, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers.
  • Experience managing vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant).
  • Understanding of RAG architectures, model quantization, and GPU optimization.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience working in a Microsoft or hybrid cloud stack is an advantage.
